It sounds harsh, but I’m just about done caring whether everyone on the planet “wakes up” or not. It’s not that I don’t care about people. I do care. But waiting and waiting and waiting for all conditions to be 100% perfect and for all risk to be eliminated is an exercise in futility, and a surefire way to kill the nation.
Like a cow in the pasture...I been ruminating.
Over time, I (AKA, anecdotal) have seen the following systematic events.
Women are to be championed in society.
POC are to be championed in society.
POC females are to be championed in society.
Homosexuals are to be championed in society.
Pan-gender persons are to be championed in society.
XX, pan-gender POC are to championed in society.
In all of this:
white, orthosexual; Christian boomers are used as scapegoats for societies ills.
They are deserving of nothing, let alone merit recognition for what they have accomplished since 1960.
My employer celebrates all sorts of “individuality” within the workplace, implying that my efforts (as a white, orthsexual, christian of monogamy) are sufficient but...not quite “celebratory” in the grand scheme.
Now, we find another characteristic that must be celebrated....vaccination!
As these societal requirements move forward...I (and my cohorts) are moved to background.
Sure we get our expected raises and bonuses but that’s because...we just do our job.
As expected.
All the while, we can’t question the “jump” in bonus in the HR group or perceived “jump” in bonus/merit for equal employees of a celebrated group.
So...I bust my hump and my employer simply looks down on my contribution as “normal” and not meriting of any celebration.
While publicly presenting their diversity quotas as progress.
Ask any (employed) Asian if this ain’t true for them, too.
