Why?

When I young was reading to my older sister and mispronounced a word (filet or something like that), she said the T was silent, it's a French word, made me sound stupid to pronounce it like that.

I said: Sis, if it’s silent then it's stupid to put a T in the word, the French are dumb.

My feelings about the French changed however in the summer of 1959 when I was 12, A 14 yo girl taught me how to French 💋. Changed my option on on lots of things.

And wallah is how it sounds so makes more sense to me.
