To be fair, Atlas Shrugged is NOT an easy read even for an adult. It's 1,000+ pages of 5pt font, and having a thesaurus nearby is a good idea.

When I worked in Manhattan, I looked at the copy of Atlas Shrugged in the NY Public Library: it had been taken out many times. I bet it's been hidden/trashed by leftists.

Anthem is a great novella; it can be read in one day. It'll also change your view on everything.

I'm not a big fan of public education, but to be fair many people go into teaching, striving to do the right thing. They ultimately get discouraged and go into industry. The ones who are Antifa et al thrive in choking off the free exchange of ideas, and as wally shows, they've been around for a LONG time.

I usually read way higher than my grade level during most public school.

One reason I think some of the local high and mighty eggheads that ran the didn’t care for me much. I got bounced from gifted to some special needs sort of thing up until junior high. I guess the other side of the coin is they didn’t know what to do with me. It wasn’t like I was asked for my opinion that often.
