Wife thought Prescott got too cold, with s bit of snow. That, and the bidding wars going on up there got us looking further south. House prices going for over $25-50K over asking was nuts. We will wait for the bubble to pop.
But, part of the plan in having a base in Arizona was to be able to explore and make an informed decision. Outside of Tucson and Phoenix, Prescott is the only place with a Costco.
I really like Yavapai county if I can get wife to consider it. Seems to be a weather trade off, cooler (somewhat) summer and colder winters.
The whole state is a 2nd Amendment sanctuary, major importance to me.
Any “dont live here!” list that doesn’t include New Jersey has a fundamental flaw somewhere.
Virginia? Come on! Virginia is a low-tax state with GREAT weather, AWESOME booming economy, and SUPERB infrastructure!
Everyone should move to Virginia. I own a house here and hope to sell it someday....
“Conscientious” and “ethical” are two words I would not use to describe most of the Virginians I’ve run across.
The list of things I don't like in Idaho is short. Smoke from California wildfires hangs over my area from June to September. Sometimes the wind is more vigorous than I like. There are fewer months I can ride my motorcycle, but my employer keeps me so busy that I miss even the nice days when I could enjoy riding.
Aren’t property/school taxes high in NYS? They are through the roof in CT.

#16. Rocks, potatoes and lobsters “culture do not make”. Maybe a good meal and something to throw at “down-easterners”, but Maine’s politicians suck just like any other bunch of incompetent, leftist aholes.
Virginia used to be a great state but the Dems and now their Marxist allies (”progressives” with Soros money) are destroying it and crime, diseases are rising. Schools are deteriorating esp. in No. Virginia where immigration, esp. with illegals, is destroying traditional and successful educational systems and CRT is trying to take over but is finally meeting stiff parental opposition.
The medical care is excellent. Otherwise, I would have been dead several times in the past 17 years. However, taxes are killers in many counties (I won’t complain about the state income tax but fees are continually rising for car-related items, now toll roads on main public roads, and the fear of rising crime all over the area).
Part of my family has fled for the safety of Florida and the rest might join them fairly soon. Our Dem politicians have abandoned the working class and those they support are more like leaches, not patriotic, hardworking, learning people (though we do have some very fine people who came here legally and contribute to the healthy maintenance of our society).
Maryland taxes are ridiculous of course, but the quality of life here is an offset.
where is the category: family who will take you in?
that is definitely a factor
TRUTH! When Imeet someone who just moved to Illinois, I ask them Why?
I would love to move to a warmer climate. Unfortunately, the “where are my grandchildren” index keeps me right here.
You forgot mosquitoes.
Bogus list.
How do I know?
NYS is not on it.
So does Arkansas! We are full of chiggers, ticks, cottonmouths, kudzu, rednecks and HIllary loving lesbians that look like state road workers.

That’s not helpful. The entire state is a bunch of inbread rednecks with no culture or redeeming values. All western and northern people would be miserable here. Stay away.
Based on car tags - unfortunately they are flooding north Alabama.
A big part of the reason why I moved to Indiana from Maryland after I retired:
1. Maryland
