Yes, the pay for leaving a field fallow has been around for a long time; I think the 80s at least? Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t around during the New Deal.
Hmmmmm....now here’s me an idea. Maybe I could buy an overgrown pasture, get the government to pay me not to use it for agriculture, build a wind farm on it, and have just an acre or two for a house and my own personal garden and orchard. Might be a retirement plan right there....
