I think most surface naval vessels are hardened to handle an EMP. (Excluding harbor launch ferries, garbage lighters!)

Indeed they are but the TVs on the mess decks, chiefs' quarters and wardroom are toast, not to mention personal mp3 players.

This will piss off the crew as much as anything.
