I could get my vw bug popped all by myself, hill or no hill!
And when the engine blew up I got a new one for $250!
Wish I had it now, sigh..
There's a '68 Bug out in the shop that I've got in the last stages of rebuild for the 14yo grand daughter's Graduation/16th Birthday present.
Don't think it'll be available for sale anytime soon, though. Her Colorado cousin(s) have already bid for Nexties and after they're done the twin great-grands (they're already on mini 4-wheelers) will take over.
If I can keep 'em in engines (there are four or five out in the shed) that Bug should be available for resale around its hundredth anniversary.
...depending on how many/when those young ladies decide to start families of their own. Or when they just switch to rocket propulsion or time travel.
Same, VW bug battery went bad and had to wait two weeks for my next paycheck before I had the money to buy a new one.
Engine needed repairs after 110,000 miles and got an estimate of $450 for repairs. Instead of repairing just bought a rebuilt one from Sears for about $300 and installed it myself, took me about 1-1/2 hours.
We had a VW super beetle...great winter car.
driving down the xpressway and the left rear tire came off and passed me. Rolled across a couple of lanes and ended up in a snowbank on the meridian.
It didn’t cause an accident as not many were on the road. Ended up selling to the guy who towed it.
