Elementary school students in the United States fell behind five months in mathematics and four months in reading by the end of the 2020–21 school year
******************************
Although I would venture that student progress/performance this past year+ is much worse than that stated^, there is no data cited for this “report”.
Despite searching the websites of ALSDE and USDE (this one led me to National Center for Education Statistics), I have been unable to locate the source of that information. In fact, the most recent data I found is from 2019, which makes sense because there was no mandated assessment in 2020, and if there were assessments in 2021, I doubt that information is yet public.
Lesson?
Never gaslight a retired teacher.
They will own you in the end.
I think you’re right about the loss in education due to lockdowns. It makes sense that they would admit it, but lie while admitting it. It’s much worse than that.
