Boy can I ever relate to that! Not a foot injury per se, but a tear/sprain of the LCL on my right knee. It’s been months since the injury, and I *STILL* limp, even on flat, level ground.

Ouch! Had something like that back in my mid-30s; an unfortunate painting fall from a scaffold improvised from a board atop one of those ladders that locked into a variety of positions. Knee got caught between rungs on way down, and twisted. No one was around, and I couldn’t put any weight on that leg, so I had to use my roller extension as a crutch to get self and gear to my car, followed by 35 mile drive home.

Took about 4 months to recover fully. But I was young then. Never went to doctor (mistrusted them even back then, and I was tough and still am), but looked up on a sports medicine site to see which tendon was likely torn (the one on the outside, I forget the name now!) I just iced it a lot at first, and kept it elevated, later wore an ace bandage; when I went out I used crutches for a couple weeks, and then a cane for the months that followed. Finished the painting job while I was still limping; LOL. It was for an elderly relative.

It has not bothered me since.

Yesterday before I had a chance to reply to your post, I was helping husband move his inversion table, and he was trying to unlock the leg extension part. All of a sudden, it released, and came shooting straight down about 15 inches to the floor, like a falling hammer. Well, it didn’t hit the floor because two toes on my right foot were right in its way, Aaargh! I howled. Hurt like hell. He ran to get ice, and I said it would be a miracle if my toes weren’t broken. Well, miracles happen. I was walking around an hour later, and have nothing to show for it but some light bruising. Unreal!

Well, I think the vax reactions have hit my neighborhood. My daughter just called and said she was two miles from the house but would be a little late picking up her dog. She was directing traffic around a woman that stepped out in front of her, proceeded to remove all her clothes, and stretched out on the road. Now, the feels like temp here is around 100 so I suspect she will have blisters in a lot of tender spots. My daughter called the Sheriff Dept. and told them to get their butts out there.

Either the vax or Meth but I suspect the symptoms will be similar.

Wow, I would say God had His hand on you for sure! Very glad you (and your toes) avoided something truly awful.

It sounds like what got torn in your painting fall was the LCL (lateral collateral ligament), same as mine. It’s the one on the very outside of your knee, and controls its stability. Worse in some ways than tearing your ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), which ruins many athletes’ careers.

Will keep fingers crossed that it won’t be too long until full healing. Although I still limp some, the pain is much, much less than it was last month. It’s all the parrot’s fault anyhow, LOL. The injury happened while kneeling — way too fast — to clean his cage. :-)
