Several Arizona law enforcement agencies are among hundreds across the country testing a new de-escalation tool straight out of a comic book that's intended to help them stop and detain people without causing pain. The BolaWrap is hand-held like a Taser, but is shaped more like a cellphone and, once it is activated, it discharges an 8-foot Kevlar cord to "restrain uncooperative suspects or nonresponsive persons in crisis from a distance," according to its website.

Doesn’t look like its that effective. To really work, legs need to be together and arms as well. Works in a walking away stride. Most cases are running perps pointing a gun. This won’t work.
It will work in many cases, but even an arm wrap would not prevent the perp from firing a weapon.

Bolo shotgun rounds have been around for a loong time too. How many tax dollars does this new, improved(?), bolo gun cost? How many rounds can it hold? How easy is it to reload?

Can’t be any worse than some of the taser inspired face plants I’ve seen. Running like a madman, then zap, and flat on the ground like a landed mackerel.

I also recall a “Bolo-like net” shot from a large barreled shotgun. It would inflate over the target and totally engulf them to the point of being immobilized.
