I’m not taking any kind of shot for something that is a) 9.8% survivable and, b) treatable with safe, effective long used preventatives/treatment.
I can only speak for the Jacksonville area of Florida. There has been a dramatic upswing in covid related hospitalizations. They are not busting at the seams but the tread has been rising quickly over the past few weeks.
My daughter works in a hospital in Tulsa. She sees an increase in COVID patients.
I have ZERO TRUST IN THE FDA.

I would not either, I’m just putting it out there that there is a non mRNA vaccine in the pipe line. It’s too far out to do me any good. But I thought others might like to know.

Please, lock us down again! Muzzle us with masks again!

It’s all a big lie. The Covidistas are itching to lock everything down again, mask up everyone and jab as many people as possible.
Covid is real. There are people here on FR who deny that. I don’t get that. I am a pretty well-read person who even has a graduate background in this field (albeit long ago). I am unaware of any virus or prior illness that presents as Covid does. My health care friends say the same thing. It is a strange virus with some unique symptoms.
There is a chance that Covid can kill you or damage you permanently. I know people who died from it and know many more with long-term or even permanent damage. The percentages that are being used are overly simplistic. If you are older, obese, diabetic, or have a weak immune system or other health issues you do not have the same survival percentage that we read a hundred times a day here on FR. A heavy 50 year old should never assume they have the same survival rate as a healthy 25 year old, but many do. This has never been a “one size fits all” virus, but that is the way we approached it from the outset.
There is a chance that the vaccine can kill you or lead to long-term or permanent damage. I know of two people who unexpectedly died after the vaccine(s) - the mRNA ones. I know several people who had adverse reactions including two who had heart attacks and both were middle-aged in good shape.
The “chance” of a negative outcome from either the virus or the vaccine are both small in a statistical sense, but it’s definitely real. We have a pool of tens of millions at risk from one or the other.
I think the J&J (traditional) vaccine is much less risky than the mRNA ones from my own observations. Big pharma and our health bureaucracy seem to favor the mRNA vaccine(s). Our media seem more like cheerleaders. This seems odd, but I cannot explain why despite my personal suspicions of a monetary motive.
Over a year later, there is still much we do not know about Covid or the vaccine(s). I see a lot of people speaking confidently about this mess, but not me. I see a lot of doctors speaking confidently and saying the exact opposite of one another - the same disagreements we see here on FR are present within the health care community. I know this first-hand from discussions with them.
The only opinions I have about at this point are:
The lock-downs, masking, and distancing did not work. Masks are ineffective and there are real and legitimate downsides. I have held this belief for a year and see nothing to refute it.
We SHOULD NOT vaccinate young people. Period. I am not movable on that topic. The data and “science” do not support this idea. I remain very firm about this one so far.
The virus is not going to stop. The idea that we will eradicate it seems to be an unrealistic goal despite the promises of idiots in the media, bureaucracy, and politicians proclamations. The data is clear so far. Look no further than Israel or England.
I believe the vaccine push came at a big cost because the “vaccine or bust” crowd marginalized treatments that showed promise and effectiveness and could have mitigated death and severe illness.
Like everything else, this has become a highly politicized issue in our society and that is reflected here on FR with very strong opinions and lots of snarky responses.
I blame China. There are many others who deserve “blame” for how this unfolded, but never forget that China decided to lock down Wuhan yet they allowed international travel to continue. They made a choice that the whole world paid for. Why this is not a main talking point is beyond me.
Each of us, regardless of our views has a right to an opinion about “Covid” and that should be protected here on FR. If someone wants to “attack” my opinion or thoughts I welcome a debate in a rational manner.
I chose the J&J vaccine after my own research based on my own risk assessment. I am still happy with my personal decision. I had no issues and was relatively confident about it given that the Army juiced me up with the airgun many years ago. My wife does not want a vaccine and I support her decision. My kids will NOT receive the vaccine while they are under my roof.
I support the right of each of us to make that decision for ourselves. My parents and in-laws all had the vaccine (no problems) and I remain thankful they got it as they are very vulnerable to this attack by China. However, it was their choice.
I try to have an open mind and you gave an honest response to the original question. FRegards.
