Concur - I was a JO in the early 90s and I started seeing a lot of the changes coming. Lot of the stuff mentioned were part of why I left active duty after my commitment was up.

Didn’t help that the opportunities for ships were cut dramatically.

Oh for the days of our 600 ship Navy...

I’m just ashamed that many of my classmates were the senior officers that allowed it to happen and get worse.

Did you ever read James D. Hornfischer's Neptune's Inferno and The Fleet at Flood Tide?

I highly recommend both of them. It's always a nice thing to read a book where one of your relatives gets a mention.
