The banality of saving millions of lives?
That is still an unknown for now.
Absolutely the banality of saving lives that simply ended through natural causes. A coronavirus death is merely a natural death, it’s nothing special or worse than any other loss of life. Spare me the “saving lives” rhetoric, that has the ethical connotation of saving lives from fire, accident, homicide something unnatural. And by doing something heroic. A death from covid is nothing of the sort. It’s utterly banal, a statistic, no different from a death from cancer or a heart attack or influenza.
A vaccine is a medical achievement, but no more heroic than medical professionals doing their duty as per usual. The deaths are merely natural events. The deaths prevented are merely medical science doing its thing.
Get over coronavirus. Get over your fear and horror of death, the most natural thing of all. This isn’t an emergency. It’s not the end, although some people like you fear it’s the end of them - which in their narcissistic worldview somehow equates to the end of the world.
The best thing for people who are afraid of the virus is to get infected. There is a sort of poetic justice in the most cowardly getting what they feared. A coward dies a thousand deaths - or doesn’t, because most people survive the damn thing. Get it and get over it. Enough is enough already.
