The shocking assassination of Haiti’s president means U.S. must get off the sidelines and act | Editorial

Moïse’s death and the lack of a functioning government also serves as a clear cut signal that the U.S. must play a greater role in Haiti’s future, starting right now.

It’s clear that Haiti will need both immediate and longer-term guidance to move forward in a democratic way. This is a country that started out with weak institutions, and they’re now virtually non-existent. The U.S., as Haiti’s biggest donor, has no choice but to take the lead — with international partners and, importantly, Haiti’s own civil society — to stabilize Haiti.

An international coalition could do immense good very quickly by picking five critical things to focus on so that basic life in Haiti can continue: good roads, reliable electricity, clean water, policing that works and COVID vaccines...

U.S. must also drop the idea of elections in two months. The Biden administration had pinned its hopes on “free and fair” elections, refusing to take into consideration the amount of turmoil in Haiti was going to make that very hard time to pull off.

Transition governments have worked in the past. That’s the best path forward now. Elections must be reset for a date that allows Haiti time to get its footing. Rushing into an election now will only result in more chaos — and an electorate that doesn’t believe in the results.

Reading the comments of that, it reminded me that the original justification of Apartheid was legitimate. The native Africans did have a different culture from the Whites, and that a logical separation would allow both societies to live as they wished.

The problem was, that’s not what happened. Black labor was exploited and the two societies did mix, and as they say, “How Ya Gonna Keep ‘em Down on the Farm (After They’ve Seen Paree?)”

#7-U.S. must play a greater role in Haiti’s future, starting right now.
#35-It needs a powerful dictator than can stay in control, ala Papa Doc.
#62-Haiti’s woes largely stem from other countries meddling too much.(? R U sure?)
#96-America is not God. Our nation was not created to solve the world’s problems.

100+ opinions=100+ buttholes. Think about it. Haiti is not Afghanistan-it’s in our hemisphere. They don’t hate us like the muzzies do. We could solve the problem in 1 generation thru carrot and STICK approaches. First there’s the French and the D.R.- potential partners. Then there’s the U.S.-we’re the good guys(Trust me. We’re the world’s hope). The stick will require a big GOP majority in congress showing blacks how to improve their lives-unpopular but right.

This is a big subject that can and should be continued tomorrow at 10AM EST.

Haiti Is the Only Country in Western Hemisphere Without Vaccines
Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western hemisphere, has earned another grim distinction: it’s the only one that hasn’t vaccinated a single resident against Covid-19.
Coincidence?

They don't need new institutions. They need a complete population replacement.

We showed up the French when they failed at building the Panama Canal. Then we thought we could show them up a 2nd time in Viet Nam-stoopid. This would be a 3rd project. Do it with the ‘be prepared to get up and walk away’ ideas of Trump. Offer it up as a UN project. Bush 41’ built a notable coalition to free Kuwait. The table can be set now but not with Biden.

btw-we have a few racists here. I can be accused of the same. Just read my comments. There’s always hope.

All people everywhere of every race need to be taught about capitalism and how socialism and communism always ALWAYS fails.

I know it sounds soooooo good. Socialism at first glance sounds like heaven on earth something all of mankind should be working towards. But then you think a “TINY” bit more about it and you realism is CAN NEVER WORK, and WILL ALWAYS FAIL! How long it takes to fail can vary depending on how much money they have to confiscate in the country and what kind of shape the infrastructure is in. But as soon as they run out of other peoples money and the infrastructure built by capitalists starts to crumble. The state fails, 100% of the time. It can take decades for this process to play out, so it can be hard for some to see the connection.

Well, now that we have all of those troops home from Afghanistan now, they need something to do, right? What better way to burn lives and money than to send them to Haiti to rebuild that country.

This article sounds like white supremacy to me—telling the black natives what they should do...

Yeah, I noticed that too. Notice this passage:

An international coalition could do immense good very quickly by picking five critical things to focus on so that basic life in Haiti can continue: good roads, reliable electricity, clean water, policing that works and COVID vaccines...

In other words, do white things.

Let's conduct an experiment, let Haiti solve their own problems themselves for a change.
No more colonialism, under any pretext.

NO. This was a clear signal that, despite MASSIVE aid over decades, Haitians just can’t get it together to run their own country. We should distance ourselves from that mess of a country and ban importing more of these low IQ low skills idiots, but of course drooling dumba@@ Biden will probably send a trillion or so of our money for these idiots to squander.

Hell no. The US should mind its own business except to ring Haiti with warships to turn back any migrants.

It's called "colonization," which is what they just finished telling us is what they hate America for.
