Wow! That goes way back. Mine immigrated here before the Revolutionary War and fought with Washington. I was born in Petersburg VA while my dad was in the Army but except for being born there I have never been to Virginia. He got out of the service shortly after my birth.
Farms around us are all mowing hay right now. My daughter mowed our 35 acres of hay down. Most years we let people mow it for the hay but some years we just cut it down. We put up our own hay when we had horses and cattle but now that they are gone we don’t need it. Some of our neighbors do and if they ask we always let them have it.
Those country smells hang really close to the ground in that mist.
