"People want to see him," Andrew Wyatt told reporters.
Bill Cosby’s next step could be a comedy tour.
The newly freed comedian’s spokesperson Andrew Wyatt told reporters Thursday, including from the The Philadelphia Inquirer, that Cosby has been “been talking to a number of promoters and comedy club owners” and “is just excited the way the world is welcoming him back.” Wyatt added to Inside Edition, “A number of promoters have called. Comedy club owners have called. People want to see him.”
The 83-year-old Cosby was freed Wednesday after serving more than two years of a three-to-10-year sentence at a state prison following dozens of women accusing him of rape and sexual assault. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court decided that a “non-prosecution agreement” the actor struck with a previous prosecutor should have prevented him from being charged in a case that stemmed from a 2004 encounter with accuser Andrea Constand. “I have never changed my stance nor my story,” Cosby said in a statement. “I have always maintained my innocence.”
The possibility of the disgraced 83-year-old comedian returning to the live stage might seem almost unimaginable (not to mention, deeply unfunny) considering the number of accusations against him, and it would be certain to cause protests and uproar at any booked venues.
Attorney Lisa Bloom, who represents several Cosby accusers, has also warned that the comedian could face new defamation claims should he embark on a tour where he claims vindication and casts his accusers in a negative light.
Previously, and under a rather different set of circumstances, comedian Louis C.K. semi-successfully returned to stand-up in the wake of admitting he masturbated in front of five women in 2017. Yet those appearances were met by some backlash, and he has yet to be re-embraced by studios and streaming outlets. His latest special, 2020’s Sincerely Louis C.K., was self-released through his website.
Mike Tyson raped a 19 year old violently and served several years in prison. He is sought out for interviews. ESPN did a doc on him recently, Hollyweird puts him in their movies and Broadway gave him a one man show.
The difference? Cosby talked about Conservative things and chastised the Blacks for all their BS. Tyson talks about himself and his hard upbringing
I thought Tyson supported Trump.
Did he get his sight back after being released? This old dude is a POS
The other thing that can be said about Bill Cosby is that he has *no* sense of humour, when it comes to jokes at his expense.
EXHIBIT A: The way he sent his lawyers after Justin Roiland (creator of Rick & Morty) like a pack of rabid pitbulls, over Roiland’s earlier, online cartoon series “House of Cosbys”, which was actually *very* funny. (rolls eyes)
I can only imagine what he must have thought of that Family Guy bit.
He ought to do a bit about justice for elites versus the rest of us.
Is he gonna open with the Spanish Fly bit?
Salvation Army stores have a special section just for the “Cosby sweaters”!
Indeed he’s a drug for a shot of leg guy they don’t change just get better at it.
Wouldn’t it be easier to appear on CNN?
Those people would not include me.
Do you have a video?
The Rape Tour.
Put some ice on that lip, Juanita.
List all the Conservatives Cosby endorsed for office, please.
He made records that spin on a turntable.
Did he now. Where was that widely publicized?
Cosby’s critiques of the Blacks was well known, widely publicized and he was hated for it by Blacks and Liberals.
Tyson violently raped a 19 year old girl.
Cosby apparently got women drunk, a few drugs that they may have taken voluntarily, and moved on fully grown women who knew what they were doing being with him.
Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker is an old boys saying.
You are trying to compare that to the violent rape of a teenager?
You’re a liar. I never said he endorsed anyone. You’re a liar.
Smarten up idiot.
The reason for this double standard seems plain to me. Cosby was thrown into the social and professional wilderness after he violated a commandment rigidly enforced by numbskull leftists in the entertainment industrial complex: Thou shalt not be conservative.
Cosby, a Democrat, has expressed views considered heretical by famous folks, particularly those of color. He’s preached that African-American males need to man up and stop blaming others for their failures, care for their children and clean up gibberish-laden speech.
“Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals,’’ Cosby said in the so-called “Pound Cake’’ speech he delivered at a 2004 NAACP awards ceremony in Washington, DC.
“These are people going around stealing Coca-Cola,’’ he said. “People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake! And then we all run out and are outraged: ‘The cops shouldn’t have shot him.’ What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?’’
Rather than receiving applause for his moral values, Cosby was roundly condemned by liberals as an elitist hypocrite who blamed victims of perceived racism for their diminished stations in life.
Months after the speech, Cosby’s first accuser pointed her finger at him.
Too soon?
He’s 83 ,LOL
