My Science teacher in High School kept this huge rock on her desk. She told us it was fossilized dinosaur poop. I guess it never occurred to her to see what was inside of it; she could’ve retired early! ;)
She was an awesome teacher who made the natural sciences so much fun. She was already about 300 years old back in 1975, LOL!
I know a man who's doing a lot of research into dino coprolites. There are lots of them to be found in Wyoming and other areas of the U.S. Very few - so far - have contained insect matter but there were many different kinds of dinos with different dietary habits. Who knows what may be discovered?
It's not well known but some fossilized dino poop has silicified into attractive stone that's sometimes made into jewelry. It's always a great conversation-starter.
