I hate to sound like a fussbudget but I do wish people would write “quiet” (meaning without sound, silent) if that is their intended meaning, instead of “quite.” The misspellings detract from the focus of the message. Reading stuff like that is like driving down a road full of potholes. I know typos can be introduced with autocorrect features and people typing on phones and other mobile devices or using dictation, but I wish they’d also go back and proofread before publishing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, thecodont. If you think you are smart enough to have people read your work online, you could at least proofread. It is not that difficult, and lack of proofreading is an insult to your readers.
IMO, sloppy writing indicate sloppy thinking.
Mind you, I am not talking about quick posting as we do here. When one is in a hurry to make a quick comment, mistakes often happen, and there is no edit function on FR. If someone is composing material to post online, however, there is no excuse.
