The Mississippi State baseball team fell 1.2 innings short of a historic combined no-hitter. They'll settle for the first NCAA team championship in Bulldogs history.
Riding a dominant showing on both offense and defense, Mississippi State defeated Vanderbilt 9-0 in Game 3 of the 2021 College World Series to capture the school's first baseball title, and the school's first title in any team sport overall.

I don’t keep up with baseball, but i still like hearing about people getting together in big groups and having a good time together. That’s what you’re supposed to do during the summertime, at some point in your life.
That’s another sign of life settling back into normal, benign routines.

Now I can look forward to getting the SEC package for baseball next year. MLB is dead to me.
The Bulldogs once had a team that fielded Will Clark, Raphael Palmeiro, and Bobby Thigpen together and still didn’t win it. I feel bad for the NC Wolfpack who got tossed out of the tourney because of the soy boys at the NCAA overreacting to COVID “protocol”. But congrats Miss. State.

College Baseball is underrated. I mean, people talk about college football and basketball, but baseball, especially in New England has great teams. UConn, opened their new stadium this year and some areas are named for UConn baseball players, IIRC.

We’ve been following along during the post season and hoping Mississippi State would make it through, and they did! They’re a fun bunch to watch and seem like a good group of guys. I loved seeing how Mississippi State fans showed up in force in Omaha. Looked like they were having a great time.
I remember watching Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro and Bobby Thigpen and Jeff Brantley play in the CWS many years ago.

and I’m an Ole Miss fan. So proud of those boys, though. They deserved it.
I’m surprised that’s their first title, they’ve been one of the powers of College Baseball for years, they’ve produced a lot of MLB players.
