I heard John speak on the radio about this. Friken leftist a-holes.
Author says he drove 950 miles t give a speech at a school that turned out to be fake.
That’s pretty bad if this is how it happened, but before driving all that distance, could not a little due dilligence have saved him a lot of time and gasoline?
I don’t doubt Libs are capable of such petty and immature behavior, but that only means conservatives should trust, but verify any kind of agreement that costs you that much personal time.
He never inquired of the school?? You should at least know something about the school.
If it’s an online high school, why didn’t he just deliver the address online?
Supposedly, he did speak with a ‘representative’.
He arrived to the location, and either the next morning or hours later, he was told the event had been cancelled ‘due to threats’. Really?
Even if legitimate, there is no way I would jump into a car and drive 950 bleeping miles just to give some speech.
If they want me that bad, send air tickets or even a chauffeur. I think something’s missing here. I hope it is, for the author’s sake. Otherwise, he is profoundly gullible.
John Lott should take this embarrassment as a ‘learning experience’ as to how far the LEFTISTS will lie to a journalists face.
Too many journalists, including John Lott, are too lazy to uncover the obvious lies by the Leftists.
Instead, the unpaid bloggers are the ones who do the exposures of corruption and fraud.
Sounds like wire fraud to me. If he has the offer in writing for reimbursement, and they fail to do so, that’s fraud.
Wow, talk about a 1 and done thread poster.
This guy’s been one and done for at least 4 years.

I would at least Google the school
Read the piece, folks.
1. He did look up the school. It sounds like they created a fake website full of smiling children’s faces.
2. They did offer to charter him a plane. He declined for some reason.
3. He talked with a “representative”.
Now, I agree that he probably should have done even more investigating before going, but it sounds like these people went to some effort to con him. Give a guy a break.
Last year I flew cross country to give a speech. It was for my work but sometimes that’s just what you do.
I think what's missing is you others on here who didn't bother to read the article. (I know. A Freeper tradition).
He said they offered to fly him down.
If he had accepted their air tickets, he would probably still be sitting at the airport, trying to ‘straighten out the confusion’ about the tickets. It was a trap door, waiting for him to step on it in some manner.
He did. They made a whole fake web site, with pictures and teachers and all kinds of things.
I arrived early in the afternoon June 4. I met Mr. Simon and was taken to the venue. It was an impressive setup. A team of about 20 staff and technicians were present. There were multiple cameras and flying drones, a large dais and a tent filled with technical equipment. Banners with the high school’s logo hung on either side of the stage.
Why don’t you all actually read the piece before making all this inane comments?
He did check into the school. They had a fancy website with lots of information on the school.
He did Google the school. Are you all that dumb that you can’t even read the article before you make comments on it that are answered in the piece?
