A US biotech startup has created genetically modified trees that can absorb more carbon dioxide, which could make afforestation initiatives more effective. reach Fast Company Magazine.
live carbon modified growth enzyme, causing faster growth of trees, which can absorb and store more carbon dioxide than common trees. In addition, the company is slowing down the rate of tree decay by enabling uptakeها copper and nickel, which act as fungicides. The fungus speeds up its decomposition, but with this modification, the tree will take time to decompose and the carbon will remain inside it longer.
Trees that do not produce seeds?
On the other hand, living carbon indicates that there is not enough space on the planet Planting trees needed to offset greenhouse gas emissions. So in theory, making each tree becomes more efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide Attractive proposal.
However, these trees are like others genetically modified plants They may not obtain permission from the relevant authorities for their large-scale cultivation. Although its creators assert that the type of tree they are working with now, a A hybrid of two types of poplarsIt can only reproduce through cuttings, and does not produce seeds that can be scattered elsewhere, one of the issues activists have raised.

“Plants respire in reverse, CO2 in, Oxygen out.”
You should get your facts in order before inserting yourself into conservation.
respiration
[ˌrespəˈrāSH(ə)n]
NOUN
biology
a process in living organisms involving the production of energy, typically with the intake of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide from the oxidation of complex organic substances.
Really ?
re·spire
verb
breathe.
“he lay back, respiring deeply”
(of a plant) carry out respiration, especially at night when photosynthesis has ceased.

Do I know you from parler, or boot camp ?
Are you a C.G. vet gator ?
Just wonfering
“Really ?”
Yes.
No.
USN 1968-1974
respire is breathing
Btw
I worked contract admin for blm
in Silviculture for years.
Planting and growing trees was literally my job.
the simpler solution is just to cut the cost of desalination until its cheap enough to ship to inland deserts for farming
that would roughly double the size of habitable earth and sold increase the amount of CO2 absorbed by trees as a by product.
Respiration equals breathing
My point stands
No CO2
No plants
No life
Before that I worked my way up from gs1 forestry tech usfs in all aspects of Silviculture to gs5 contract admin at blm before the spotted owl ESA fraud.
The only gator I knew from parler said he was a coastie,,,,,
Must be a different gator.

Texas is God’s country imho.
Best state in the union for many reasons.
Little reading comprehension failure on my part gator , apologies.
Only lived in Texas 2011 - 2014.
Well, you could just plant more trees.
Honestly, I can’t tell you how many neighborhoods and other places where I see people taking down older trees and not putting ANYTHING green in its place. They don’t want to be bothered with raking……
Unstink8ng real.
I have great memories of tree lined streets when we were kids. Shady and cool underneath them. They are all gone now and it’s hotter than blazers and looks terrible.
I don’t get what people have against trees.
Color me embarrassed. Been a long time since I took biology and botany.
” Been a long time since I took biology and botany.”
I don’t know what they teach now but I only learned about photosynthesis ‘back then’.
Actually, plants have a day cycle and a night cycle. Day cycle - CO2 in O2 out, night cycle - O2 in CO2 out. Typically, the day cycle out weighs the night cycle.
“Actually, plants have a day cycle and a night cycle. Day cycle - CO2 in O2 out, night cycle - O2 in CO2 out. Typically, the day cycle out weighs the night cycle.”
Actually, the two processes are referred to as photosynthesis and respiration.
Photosynthesis requires a light source. Respiration occurs 24 hours a day.
Foul up that ratio who knows what will go wrong?
Yes, photosynthesis during the day and respiration at night. I got them reversed.
Pretty sure they still teach it properly in STEM oriented programs (I hope).
