They don’t need find the progenitor virus to know it was “engineered,” but only to help discern whether it was a deliberately released bio weapon.

The masking and the lockdowns allowed it to remain longer. Rna changes with replication by nature, so finding the progenitor virus is just jargon for natural processes causing the virus are the only acceptable outcome.

I don’t know if it was engineered. That is a technical term and involves gene splicing, etc. It could have been “bred.” What I am 99.999999999% certain of is that human hands were involved in its creation. This was no accidental cross species jump. Nothing jumps and is a near perfect infective agent fitting the receptors in the human body like a key in a lock. Some “tumblers” mismatch in any jump. Covid19 fits the lock like it was made for it because it was.
