Injuns made spruce beer.
I saw a list somewhere of all the pines and if they were toxic or not. Most on the toxic list were not actual pines but trees people think are pines. Spruce is not toxic. All parts of it are edible.
Some pines are toxic to animals but not to people.
I bet Spruce beer is good. :-)
