This island kept a dark secret until 2004 (*MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY*)

The book that chronicled these atrocities was “FLYBOYS” if memory serves. Allied pilots who were shot down and captured were imprisoned of course. Several of those prison camps had commandants who were full of the Bushido BS that filled the adherents with a superiority complex. In many cases, the commandant would select a prisoner, have him murdered, and eat the prisoner’s liver. They thought this demonstrated Japanese superiority. GHW Bush was shot down and taken to one of those prisons. “Fortunately”, he was not one of those victims....depending how you viewed his administration; not to mention his son’s.
The Imperial Japanese gave the Nazis a run for their money, when it came to War Crimes and atrocities.
I don’t think he was captured
The entire jap male population should have been exterminated...
Of course I’m biased, having been age 8-to-12 during the war...
You got the book title right.
“Flyboys” Highly recommended.
Pilot GHWB had to ditch into the sea. He was rescued by a USN sub...Japs never grabbed him.
In the Shintoism of that day, the Japanese were not a mere “Master Race” - they were a “Divine Race” descended (through the Imperial family) from the Sun Goddess Amaterasu (Hence the Sun, depicted on their National flag, and war flag).
Everyone else (outside of their hive) were considered lesser forms of life.
He was not - the Navy rescued him in time - but some other fliers in his patrol were.
Given what hes alleged to have helped do to other people in his past
I’m on the fence about his liver being eaten.
You are very right. The Japanese were absolute monsters to POWs and civilians.
“Everyone else (outside of their hive) were considered lesser forms of life.”
Still are.
Baloney. His recovery and return to a U.S. vessel was all filmed.
“You are very right. The Japanese were absolute monsters to POWs and civilians.”
Unless you were one of the targeted groups, POWs had a better chance of surviving captivity by the Nazis.
Many of the POW camps were worse than the camps the Germans ran
33 percent of American POW died in Japanese hands. 1.19 percent of American POW died in German hands.
Too bad they didnt make sushi out of H. We may have been spared the cabal, Clintons, 911, and Barry if he got ate.
My thoughts exactly.
The Japanese would have gotten their payback from the Chinese if we didn’t occupy the island. Their sense of duty is still there.
W too!
Sounds like what I read. At my age, of course, I can’t usually call precise numbers to mind.
