Aha, just checked, was thinking it was the position Ratcliffe had (but replaced by a member of the enemy). So, no wonder enemy derps are terrified. The mil has this, that’s what I remember now when we heard about this defector a while ago.

DIA - Defense Intelligence Agency

The Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is a three-star military officer that rotates between Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines approximately every three years and is a principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense and to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on matters of military intelligence. The DIA Director also chairs the Military Intelligence Board, which coordinates activities of the defense intelligence community. DIA has a Deputy Director and a Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Bios at link, here’s the director (won’t post photo, too much html) but worth seeing him.

Lieutenant General Scott D. Berrier, USA
Director
LTG Scott D. Berrier arrives to DIA as the 22nd Director and came from the Department of the Army where he served as the 46th G-2. In that role, he was the principal military intelligence and counterintelligence adviser to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Army, and the Army’s Intelligence Community representative.

He is a career intelligence officer having served as the “2” at every level from Battalion to Combatant Command. The depth of his leadership experience ranges from Company Commander to Commanding General and Senior Mission Commander. His Army, Joint Service, and Special Operations assignments include service throughout the United States, the Republic of Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

LTG Berrier earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, a Master of Science Degree in General Studies from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal (1OLC), Defense Superior Service Medal (2OLC), Legion of Merit (1OLC), and Bronze Star Medal (1OLC). LTG Berrier also earned the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.

LTG Berrier and his wife, Annie, began their Army journey in 1987 at Fort Richardson, Alaska. They have two sons, Cole and Connor. Cole and his wife (Mika) currently serve in the office of Senator Brian Schatz. Lieutenant Connor Berrier is a Naval Intelligence Officer serving as the Flag Aide for the Navy N2/6.

Aha, appointed under President Trump:

Scott David Berrier is a lieutenant general in the United States Army who serves as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.[1] Berrier was confirmed by the United States Senate as the 22nd Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency on July 30, 2020, replacing the retiring Lieutenant General Robert P. Ashley Jr.[2][3] He previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army G-2 (intelligence).[4] He received his officer’s commission in 1983 through the ROTC program at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.[5]

He definitely has the credentials but the best part is “appointed under President Trump”. No wonder they are worried.

BREAKING: Chinese Defector’s Identity Confirmed, Was Top Counterintelligence Official
By Jennifer Van Laar | Jun 17, 2021 8:00 PM ET

https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2021/06/17/breaking-chinese-defector-confirmed-as-top-counterintelligence-official-n398374

RedState’s sources say that Chinese officials did demand that the United States return Dong, but Blinken didn’t exactly refuse; at that time Blinken wasn’t aware that Dong was with the US government, the sources say, and told China that the US didn’t have Dong.

It’s only in the last three to four weeks that anyone outside DIA knew about the defector, according to RedState’s sources. Prior to that time, DIA was vetting the information provided and confronting Langley officials with what they’d learned without divulging the source.

Experts quoted in the Spy Talk piece essentially say that the defection is just a rumor and that rumors happen all the time, but that if it’s true it’s a big deal but “not game-changing.” Based on conversations with sources familiar with the information Dong has already provided and its quantity and reliability, that’s simply not the case. Not only does Dong have detailed information about China’s special weapons systems, the Chinese military’s operation of the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of SARS-CoV-2, and the Chinese government’s assets and sources within the United States; Dong has extremely embarrassing and damaging information about our intelligence community and government officials in the “terabytes of data” he’s provided to the DIA.

***The Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is a three-star military officer that rotates between Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines***

Not too long ago that three-star military officer was (three star) Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
