Hubby has reported sometimes, that he got a call on the land line — something about the Amazon acct. and asking him to punch a number to talk to them. He doesn’t hear well enough to get all the details though.
I’m like - what Amazon Acct. I haven’t bought anything for months from Amazon, and even then, it was for stuff he wanted. Somehow or other he always has an excuse, why I have to order it for him.
THere are so many con men out there its sickening and seemingly no law enforcement to take care of them.
The key is not to give them any time and waste as much of theirs as you can.

I’ve been getting calls on my cellphone from some company selling life alert services. For some reason this company thinks I am disabled and on SSI.
My son and his wife were over for a belated Father’s Day visit. We were sitting at the table eating my grilling masterworks.
They call and I pick up. A recording tries to engage me in conversation. I know it’s a ‘bot. The ‘bot asks me a series of questions and I answer, “Yes” everytime to connect to a real person.
Trudy picks up after a couple of minutes. The recording hands off the call, trying to encourage the stupid, weak, or out of touch sheep to still actually believe it’s a real person. It was painfully stupid.
After the ‘bot is done babbling I cut off Trudy and tell her, “Trudy, I am not disabled. I am not on SSI. Take me off of your call list. I know you’re just doing your job. If I get another call from your company I will find where it is and I will burn the building to the ground.”
I could have made it worse, but I had company. My son was laughing because he knows me too well. My daughter in law was probably horrified but didn’t show it. She’s a good kid.
I’ve done this many times. It always works. I once did it at work. I got put on verbal warning for that and everyone was instantly afraid of me. Not a bad thing. Not good either. I guess I was having a bad day.
