In its 10th year, the Deloitte Global Millennial and Gen Z Survey reveals two generations pushing for social change and accountability
Markets Insider ^ | June 16, 2021 | Deloittle

"In the 10 years Deloitte has been conducting the Millennial Survey, millennials and Gen Zs' lives have changed, but their values have remained steadfast. They have sustained their idealism, their desire for a better world, and their belief that business can and should do more to help society," said Michele Parmelee, Deloitte Global Deputy CEO and Chief People and Purpose Officer.

Climate change and protecting the environment was millennials' No. 1 personal concern a year ago. Perhaps unsurprising, this year, health and unemployment fears topped the list of personal concerns for millennials. Yet, their continued focus on environmental issues (coming in third), and the fact that it remains the No. 1 concern for Gen Z—even during a global pandemic, when other threats to their health, family welfare, and careers may feel more imminent—demonstrates how important this issue is for younger generations.

Six in 10 Gen Zs and 56% of millennials say systemic racism is widespread in general society.

Continuing a steady decline over the last few years, less than half of millennials (47%) and Gen Zs (48%) think business is having a positive impact on society. This marks the first time that figure has dipped below 50%.

Job loyalty also slipped a bit from last year's record high. More millennials and Gen Zs would, if given the opportunity, leave their current employers within two years (36% and 53% respectively, compared to 31% and 50% in 2020) while about the same say they plan to stay at least five years (34% millennials, 21% Gen Zs). And, 44% of millennials and 49% of Gen Zs say they have made choices over the type of work they are prepared to do and the organizations they are willing to work for based on their personal ethics over the past two years.

There is something seriously wrong with these people if these results are accurate.

I understand not all of the people in these age groups are that way or feel these ways.

But those who do have zero comprehension of history or the dynamics of reality and human nature.

How can they not “worry” about the environment when it’s all they’ve know. But do they act like good stewards or do feel good nonsense or leave trash everywhere because it’s invisible to them?

Businesses need to mind their business. Stake holder theory is becoming outsized as a concern. Plenty of businesses talk the woke talk but are failing at their purpose.

K-12 indoctrination has been very effective. Woke corporations allowing this crap to be part of the corporate culture has cemented this sickness.

Accountability. As in - you take out student loans, you pay them off without asking for the Federal government to forgive and waive them. What a joke.

Astonishing. There was a time teachers were held in high regard by parents.

I cannot imagine what their approval ratings would be in a poll today, with the refusal to teach, and the growing awareness by the public for the enthusiastic embrace of Marxism and indoctrination by teachers.

When I hear someone refer to themselves as an “Educator” it makes me want to spit. That is a sure giveaway of a Leftist.

But the social change they desire will result in no accountability.

Idiots.

We could really pull the rug out from under the teachers’ unions with one policy; yearly literacy tests for government school teachers.

The state of New York recently passed a law requiring prospective school teachers to take a literacy test to get their license, but repealed it the following year because 36 percent of whites, 54 percent of Hispanics and 59 percent of blacks failed on the first try.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/13/nyregion/ny-regents-teacher-exams-alst.html

If every state required this we would get rid of half the teachers’ union members in one fell swoop, and most of the remaining teachers would vote to decertify their unions in a heartbeat.

They’ve been raised in the so-called information age. Propped up by government programs for rich and poor alike.

Reality, not so much.

This is what happens when exposed to the real world and not the make-believe world of college where all your needs are met and you don't have to do a thing except sit back and let professors fill your head with Marxist lies.

You gotta make a living somehow.

The real world is vastly different from college or your parents' basement.

That test was probably a 6th grade reading level test.

I worked for a school district that once had a basic reading and math test - nothing past 6th grade level.

Rates of passage were similar to New York - the state had to abolish it, after every Marxist organization called it “racist” and that it “didn’t measure what a teacher needs to know in order to teach” (not kidding).
