I think SB made some relevant points, and I agree about local funding of fire, local roads and LE. State ain’t going to fund them.

I think a poll tax would be much better. Something needs to pay for county or town roads, fire and LE. It’s hard to find good info on poll taxes because now most searching goes to poll taxes in the south used (supposedly) to prevent black people from voting. But they were in use much earlier and also in England. I’m open to ideas.

There are other better kinds of taxes than property taxes.
And at the least your primary residence should be exempt from taxation.
As things are we are all serfs paying rents to a landlord.
