I think a poll tax would be much better. Something needs to pay for county or town roads, fire and LE. It’s hard to find good info on poll taxes because now most searching goes to poll taxes in the south used (supposedly) to prevent black people from voting. But they were in use much earlier and also in England. I’m open to ideas.

A poll tax is a tax of a fixed sum on every liable individual (typically every adult), without reference to income or resources. I wish that there was a way to have a sliding tax scale.
The higher you go in politics (i.e. the more control you have over the tax system - local, state, federal) - the rate at which you pay taxes increases.
For example, if you are a City Council member, your tax rate is 100% of the tax rate plus 3%. If you are a Congresscritter (who voyes for a LOT more taxes), your rate would be twice the regular tax rate. Maybe that would slow them down a little.
