Trump was playing to an audience different from a rally audience. This group paid $5K per plate. The tone and cadence of the speech reminded me of the speeches he's given to groups like the Economic Club.
But he spoke for well over an hour. Can anyone imagine Resident Puddin' Brain doing that? LOL!

It's really not a format as it is Trump himself. What you see and hear is Trump and based on the historic number of his supporters, I'd say he has no need for a new format or some slick campaign shtick.
