That’s what I’m saying. Nobody won that war. We are still fighting it today in some ways. There were good and bad on both sides. From what my g-grandfather told me, slaves were owned mostly by rich politicians, rich plantation owners, and wealthy business people. He said some of our family owned small family farms but they worked daylight to dark themselves. He said some were sharecroppers. They did not own slaves but still fought for the Confederacy because they were attacked. If their own neighbors had attacked them they would have done the same thing. They were fighting back in self defense, not fighting for slavery. Our local cemetery is full of graves from the 1800’s that say “CSA”. I’d be willing to bet that none of those soldiers had slaves either.
This whole reparations nonsense is a head fake the Dems play on blacks to keep them in line and voting Democrat. They need to keep them believing that it was Republicans were the slave owners and racists instead of the Southern Democrats. They can’t allow real history about the Civil Warn, KKK, and other Democrat founded racism to be told. They keep them in the worst schools and indoctrinate them to teach their narrative. They have to keep everyone believing that all of the South is racist. That is simply not true.
Don’t even get me started on my Republican grandmothers recollections of the civil rights era in Chattanooga. LOL Most of my family is long-lived and still practice oral history. There are not many people like me still around that was fortunate enough to talk to elders that remember these things, especially from the Civil War.
