Hitting someone in the face with a beer bottle or bat is ‘assault with a dangerous weapon.’ Aiming a firearm purposefully at a human and pulling the trigger is attempted murder...
...unless of course the vics are white and the perps are black, I guess.

Our laws are now situational. If YOU did this there’s a strong probability that you would be charged with attempted murder.
Years ago our son had a guy point a gun at his head and fire three times. It jammed each time. They charged the perp with assault with a deadly weapon. I asked the DA why not attempted murder. He said that its the same penalty and that the assault is easier to prove.
