It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t love a good steal — but there are a few pieces that are worth splurging on. For some, it’s an iconic handbag, and for others, it could be a piece of jewelry that they’ve been saving up for. Somehow, for editors and influencers alike, the one thing they’ll always shell out for is a great pair of shoes.
“When I invest in my wardrobe, shoes and bags are always my go-to,” says Kelsey Stiegman, a senior style editor at Seventeen. “I try to go for pieces that are either incredibly unique or timeless and classic — I think both are worth a splurge.” While she loves a good backless loafer, she’s not afraid to go big with a pair of timeless Prada slingbacks either. “If I can’t live without it, it’s worth the price.”

Oh, ok.
Democrats. An election.
CNN focuses on "an iconic handbag", expensive jewelry, and Prada shoes, when the price of gas has doubled, lumber has tripled, food prices are skyrocketing, gas and food shortages, and almost weekly mass shootings are the "new normal" under the Biden regime.
$475 and up for loafers?
No.
And boy are there some ugly shoes suggested. Sheesh.
Lots of Dr Marten wannabes, trying to be more Doc Marten than Doc Marten, which is interesting.
Give me a good pair of Clarks and Timberland boots, thanks!
Luxury items and jewelry coming out of China. What a sick joke.
Jokers who don’t know how to make anything, who don’t even try, looking for top dollar. And stupid Americans giving it to them.
Half of them are patent-leather loafers or army boots. No agenda there.
$400 for a pair of sandals? All of them are ugly, not suitable at all for my line of work, gardening.
Women’s shoes?
I was in a local shoe store Alec's here in Nashua. IMHO, the best shoe store in the world.
Even Chippewa Boots are now made in China. I have a pair of Chippewa boots I bought new in 1985. They are still in excellent condition.
Hey, I don’t want bunions and broken ankles from ridiculous little pointy shoes! They don’t need to be ugly either, but they don’t need to be useless. Don’t forget that Dr Marten started out as a women’s brand noted for an innovative sole that kept people’s feet cool through a full work day.
You’re right. I’d buy American if it was an option but at this point I’m opting for brands that enforce their standards.
After actually reading (scanning) the article, there was only one pair that might be bought in my house, the New Balance 990V5 Sneakers. I am a big fan of New Balance because there arch is really strong and lasts up to my weapons grade flat feet. Currently wearing a pair of 940V3.
I now look for items NOT made in China.
I went to Alec’s Shoes in Nashua to buy new water shoes.
I looked at Merrill’s, Keens, Columbia and one other brand. These are all higher end athletic shoes that can get wet. You do not want to slip on a seaweed covered rock and fall in the ocean when you are fishing. Especially, when the ocean is 48 degrees.
I ended up buying a pair of Merrill’s made in Vietnam. All of the other brands were made in China.
After owning my current sneakers for over a year I have become a big fan of Brooks Ghosts. I was convinced by the salesman at Alec’s Shoes in Nashua, NH because every salesman in the store was wearing them. They are on their feet all day too.
Some Keen boots still are.
LOL
Those aren’t a luxury when you need them.
I just bought a pair of 860’s. Just as nice and so far the quality is as good as the Saucony and Brooks shoes I’ve worn before.
