I’m afraid there’s no way back for John Cena, the ex-pro-wrestler and action-movie star who had to grovel before the People’s Republic of China Tuesday. While visiting Taiwan, Cena had done an appearance on the Taiwanese commercial broadcasting network TVBS, and he had boasted in Mandarin — perhaps following a poorly written script? — that Taiwan would be the “first country” to get to see F9, the newest installment of the Fast & Furious car-racing film epic.
This ticked off millions of people instantly, and he had to make a short online video apologizing, again in Mandarin, for his slipup.
Cena appeared glum, almost heartbroken as he chattered away about how sorry he was. “I love and respect China and the Chinese people,” he said. “I’m very, very sorry about my mistake. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I sincerely apologize. You must understand that I really love and respect China and the Chinese people. I’m sorry.” His Mandarin is said to have been pretty good, and supposedly Cena began studying the language before there was any thought of him being a second-tier Hollywood action hero.
Cena had defied the PRC’s great territorial taboo, referring to a part of greater China as an independent country. The mainlanders are particularly fussy about Taiwan, which was colonized by nationalist refugees from the mainland after the 1949 communist victory in the civil war. Taiwan, of course, is now what we would refer to in English, uncontroversially, as an independent country with its own government. But until recently the two countries had established a diplomatic balance based on the fiction that they are each the legitimate rulers of all of China.

No I don't believe that Angelina Jolie could single hand-idly beat up a highly trained male assassin & certainly not a dozen at one time. She weighs about 110 pounds for heaven's sake!
Between Cena and The Rock’s love fest for the current admin, I think I’ll have to pass on F9 and I enjoy the Fast & Furious franchise.
