a 20 ft long, 1 foot diameter rod of tungsten with a mass of 183.4 g/mol or 19.3g/cm^3 which means 15.708ft^3=444800cm^3 which times 19.3g/cm^3=8585640g=8584.64kg

Can you express that in Mercun pounds?

How and when did they get those things up there?

1kg = 2.2 Mlbs (Mercun pounds)

8584.64kg x 2.2 = 18,886.208 Mercun pounds

(of note: “Today, it costs $10,000 to put a pound of payload in Earth orbit.”)

$188,862,080 to get one “Rod of God” in to low Earth orbit

not sure I’ve heard the term mercun, but in U/S lbs it’s 18,924.5 lbs each rod of that size.....9 tons basically....and I have no idea...when or how....though maybe one of many shuttle trips over time....
