Actress Kirstie Alley's appearance on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Today" led former President Donald Trump to extend his appreciation for her support after the Wichita native claimed she faced backlash in Hollywood for being a Trump voter.
Alley, among the minority of outspoken conservatives in show business, told Carlson on Wednesday's broadcast that she received "insane reactions" from people within the industry when she first mentioned voting for Trump in 2016, leaving her to feel like she was in "The Twilight Zone" and "a blackballing situation."
"I was on a set and I spoke up. I didn't know it was going to be some huge deal. '(I said) you know, I think I am going to vote for Trump.' Some of the producers took me aside and go, 'I'm going to, too. But if anyone hears me say that, I will never work again," Alley told Carlson.
undefined The interview prompted Trump to release the following statement on his "Save America PAC" website:
"Stick with Kirstie Alley! She is a great actress, loved by so many people, and a true original. She is also strong and smart. Many millions of people greatly appreciate her support of our Country. Thank you Kirstie, you are truly appreciated!"

I know that a lot of folks preferred Shelly Long, but I always thought K.A. was the more attractive, entertaining of the Cheers leading ladies.
Really disliked Long.
She was only amusing after Frasier showed up.
The movie Summer School she was about a 20 outta 10
Never saw it
Plus I’m a girl, so...
:D
The hottest Vulcan this side of Ceti Alpha V.
Kudos Kirstie!
I LOVED Shelly Long as Diane, but in real life, I now love Kirstie for her courage and love of America.
Well Gender really has nothing to do with it but the movie is an 80s classic
I can see Kirstie one day making a decision to run for office. Politics is often seen as a viable second or late career once actors age out of the best Hollywood roles.
Sometimes, it works out well. See Reagan and Trump as two examples.
Agreed. More so now that I know more about her.
She is 70 years old. Hollywierd would have set her aside even without the Trump hate.
I preferred Diane, but I really liked Kirstie Alley on Cheers (can’t remember her character’s name).
70? Hollyweird magic.
Rebecca Howe.
The slasher movie murder scene was hysterical.
Honestly I never heard of the movie.
:)
I never liked Shelley Long but I love watching Frasier reruns, more so than when it originally aired.
On Cheers I did like Kirstie more than Diane, for sure.
Schoop held her at a 25 out of 10
