One can only wonder how Winston Churchill would have received this report.

The least competent people at work seem to have been serious drinkers.

These people are really good at padding resumes and getting into management positions.

Ha...when my son was about 8 years old we were having dinner and I was drinking a glass of wine...he said something like, “my Dad let me drink some beer” (we were divorcing)...to which I responded..”alcohol is not good for you, it kills brain cells”...his eyes got really big and he said “then why are YOU DRINKING IT?. I said “I have lots of brain cells.”

We did not get along real well.

But, he built a name for himself for being one of the best foresters in NE Wisconsin. He and I were the only ones in the family who went into the forestry industry.

Everyone had deep respect for his knowledge about the woods, yet would comment on his drinking when they talked to me.

I learned that when I was taking psychology courses in night school back in the mid-80's. I knew it was true because my oldest sister who was born in 1940 was a bar-fly/alcoholic. She only drank Pinch Scotch Whiskey. She ended up quitting her job in 1965 for some unknown reason, and eventually ended up on SSI. She was constantly borrowing money from my other sister, and then she would piss it away over the bar. She eventually got to the point where she wouldn't take care of herself, was admitted in and out of the alcohol rehab center of the psychiatric hospital, and ended up being permanently institutionalized by the State. She went from living at the psych center, to them trying to let her stay in a home-care situation, but her aggressive behavior ended her up back at the psych center. For many years she lived in an adult-care nursing home a few hours away from me. I used to go visit her, take her out to lunch and shopping. She was suffering from dementia from the time she was in her early 60's, if not before.

In December 2014, I was planning on visiting her at the new place they had transferred her to, but when I called to make arrangements, I was told she was in the hospital. That's all they could tell me. I called the hospital to get some info about her. Apparently she had suffered a stroke, was unresponsive, and they had put in a feeding tube. She was in ICU, and had already been resuscitated twice earlier. While I was on the phone with the nurse, she passed.

For some reason my sister never wanted to sign the papers assigning a health-care proxy, but she apparently had signed papers that she be resuscitated. Lord only knows who talked her into that. I was her only living sibling by then. She was the last of my immediate family. I was the baby.
