For WWII historical fiction, PT Dueterman is a good author. I think his latest is entitled The Hooligans. It’s about a PT squadron. He gets deep in the weeds on tactics and armaments.
One of his books spent a couple chapters on the faults and failures of WWII torpedo navigation systems.
Another was on a sub command. Another was about Dauntless dive bomber units. Very interesting books on some of the lesser known parts of our WWII strategy
Start with the Corps series, the Marines from 1937 0r 38 until the Korean war........ very great reads. He knows his stuff and his characters are all great
Then there tons of others once you get hooked
