That is so nice of you! I love those kinds of projects. My Grandpa and my Dad used Meals on Wheels. They’re both gone now, but we still chuckle over Grandpa:

“Sometimes you get TWO baked potatoes with your lunch! So, you set one aside and fry it up with an egg in the morning for breakfast and you’re living like a King!”

I miss that guy. A true American Success Story; first generation German, worked any job he could find during The Great Depression. He had a wife, son (my Dad) and a Father In Law to support. His stories of those hard times were inspiring and courageous.

When it came time to sell his lake cabin and move closer to us (early 90’s), he was simply amazed that someone would pay $130,000.00 for something he bought for $1,000.00 in 1960. ;)

Sweet story about your gramps! That was back when men were manly and women were tough and feminine at the same time.

My mom, who’ll be 97 in August, gets Meals On Wheels, too. Like your gramps, she also saves some for later on. Those depression survivors!
