What exactly does the Surgeon General do? What are his responsibilities? What resources does he have?
I'm wondering where he has been for all this covid/vax thing. And how did Fauci get to be lord high commander of all things medical?
These questions, and many more, weigh upon my mind.

In Canada, ours (Marc Bilodeau) seems to primarily perform a role for the military, more than civilians. He’s the professional head of military health and the advisor to the Minister of National Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff on all matters related to health, as well as the head of the Royal Canadian Medical Service. Aside from seeing his warnings on cigarette packages, the person occupying the position is largely an invisible person in Canada.
Having started out as real doctors, both may be unwilling to lie to the public about covid and have had their roles minimized. At least I’d like to think so.

Washington: Indian-American Dr Vivek Murthy, a distinguished physician and former Vice Admiral in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, has been nominated to serve as the US Surgeon General in President-elect Joe Biden’s health team, leading the Covid-19 response team.
“Dr Murthy was previously confirmed by the Senate to serve in the same capacity, holding the post as ‘America’s Doctor’ between 2014 and 2017. A trusted national voice on health issues and a long-time adviser to President-elect Biden, he currently serves as co-chair of the President-elect’s Covid-19 transition Advisory Board.
As “America’s Doctor,” Dr Murthy helped lead the national response to a range of health challenges, including the Ebola and Zika viruses, the opioid crisis, and the growing threat of stress and loneliness to Americans’ physical and mental well-being,” an official statement announcing the nomination said.

US Surgeon General Jerome Adams asked to step down by Biden team
US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams said Wednesday that he has been asked to leave his role as the nation’s top doctor by incoming President Joe Biden’s team
“I’ve been asked by the Biden team to step down as Surgeon General. Its been the honor of my life to serve this Nation, and I will do all I can to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve and maintain health,” Adams tweeted.
The Washington Post had first reported Wednesday that Biden was expected to ask for Adams’ resignation and select an acting surgeon general while his permanent pick for the role — Dr. Vivek Murthy — undergoes Senate confirmation. The Biden administration has asked Adams to stay on as an adviser, Jeff Zients, the coordinator of the White House’s Covid-19 task force, told reporters. CNN has reached out to the Department of Health and Human Services about whether he’s accepted.
Biden last month announced he will nominate Murthy as US surgeon general, a role Murthy held for about two years under the Obama administration until he was asked to resign by the Trump White House in 2017.
