Carl Mock, 40, who lived in the park gateway community of West Yellowstone, died Saturday, two days after he was attacked while fishing alone in a forested area along the Madison River... managed to call 911 after the attack and was found after searchers looked for him for about 50 minutes.
The grizzly was killed Friday after it charged a group of seven game wardens and other personnel as they approached the scene of the attack. Several people fired at the animal and it died about 20 yards (18 meters) from the group, Jacobsen said.
Officials said they are confident the bear that was killed is the one that attacked Mock.

On borrowed time!
I understand that putting more than (2) rounds of 3 1/2” magnums in a tubular magazine causes deformation of the shells upon recoil. Subsequent rounds may fail to chamber.
Sounds like they don’t many advantages.
My wife and I were hiking in Glacier National Park last September. We had a full-grown male grizzly come within 75 yards of us. It was pretty open country and some other hikers came upon us and we formed a “survival pod”. I suppose we were lucky as he seemed more interested in eating blueberry bushes. We had forgotten to bring bear spray as well. I joked with my wife and told her that I was going to trip her as I ran away. We saw another one the next day in area with a large number of people. He was also more interested in eating the vegetarian platter.
With the exception of an EXTREMELY LUCKY SHOT probably just piss off a Grizz.
I still have 2 boxes of them in the ammo closet. :)
Have you fired any of them?
Are you in rhino country?
