MASKS TODAY, MASKS TOMORROW, MASKS FOREVER!
Powerline ^ | APRIL 18, 2021 | JOHN HINDERAKER

There are, I think, many on the left who really don’t want to see covid hysteria end. Ever, or at least until it can be replaced by something else.

Thus, deep-blue Oregon is contemplating a permanent mask-wearing requirement.

A top health official is considering indefinitely extending rules requiring masks and social distancing in all businesses in the state.

The proposal would keep the rules in place until they are “no longer necessary to address the effects of the pandemic in the workplace.”

Michael Wood, administrator of the state’s department of Occupational Safety and Health, said the move is necessary to address a technicality in state law that requires a “permanent” rule to keep current restrictions from expiring.

Oregon Democrats assure residents that even though the rule is permanent, it will be repealed someday. But when? Like Dr. Fauci, Oregon’s officials can’t tell us when that day will ever come:

Officials said they have every intent to repeal the rule, and that decision will be made based on a complex mix of factors, including case counts, vaccination rates, case severity and advice from the Oregon Health Authority.

“It will be a complicated assessment when we do it, and I would say it is impossibly complicated to do in advance,” Wood said.

I will hazard a prediction: if it is implemented, the permanent rule will be repealed only when Oregonians engage in mass civil disobedience, refusing to obey it. But it might not come to that. Record numbers of public comments have flowed in, opposing the proposed rule, and 60,000 have signed a petition against it.

The point goes broadly for all of America. Liberals love covid restrictions and the arbitrary power they give to governments. They won’t stop bullying the rest of us until we make them stop.

Good analogy, with the mask wearing as constituting an “IQ test”. After a few weeks, when most of us realists were still able to operate on the promise of “good faith”, and once the proverbial goal-posts started moving, I likened wearing one to wearing a dunce-cap, where everywhere we went was a “dunce corner” of, the room itself being the entire country,no matter where we went.

When Michigan’s Governor mandates masks for two year olds, against all legitimate medical advice, you know the goal is indoctrination of the youth for the rest of their lives...Submission.

There is something in the water and air that attracts ultra liberals to even leave California.

Often, these liberals are what one of our conservative women friends labeled as “Chameleon Liberals”. You don’t realize that they are real liberals until they relocate to Oregone.

She was referring to 3 couples, we knew, who expatriated them selves to Oregon about 1.5 years before the pandemic. After they went there, they came out of the independent closet to be rabid Oregonian Liberals. They were pre CV19 movers.

As the CV19 virus seems to be dying down, apparently the escape to Oregon has begun again. One is a 50+ old something step daughter of this lady friend. She is leaving her husband and 3 adult kids and is in the process of moving near Portland.

Another one is a just turned 50 guy, very successful landscaper/master gardener. He sold his home and business and has moved to Oregon. His parents knew nothing about this move and life style change until the week of his move to Oregon. His home sold in less than a week, and so did his business.

A retired teacher couple have split the year into Oregone and California. They bought into a condo near Bend and live near a single daughter in that area. They live up there until the rain/snow begins. Then, they come back to California. They are old fashioned liberals, so that wasn’t a real surprise.

Decades ago, Couples like this couple, years ago were called “Rain Birds”. They would herd their big SUVs in late October and early November to California or Arizona. They returned to Oregone about this time of the year. A genealogy/DNA cousin, whom I never met, explained this process to me before she got called home.

“It’s grotesque how many of these drones cheerfully mask up, and even seek out “designer” masks, or decorate them themselves.”

We still have what my wife calls Designer Karens in our area. However, they stay away from us evil ones and for the most part don’t challenge us for not wearing a mask in a 15 mph wind. We still see them driving in cars and suv’s with their masks.

I’m Governor Larry Hogan, and I approve this message.

But more seriously, since der Governorfuehrer Fauxgan is willing to put mask doffers in jail for up to 6 months and fine them up to $5,000 dollars, I think it’s probably best that I simply buy a mask that says “Muck Fasks” or “Larry Hogan is a Fat, Corrupt Idiot” or “Fauci Needs a Helicopter Ride” and wear that in the grocery store.

Personally I am done with the mask. I spoke to the store managers in both local food stores near me, a Harris Teeter and a Food Lion and ask them if I came in their store without a mask would they ask me to leave if I refused to put one on if asked. They both said no and this even though the sign on the door said masks are required. Same experience at a local Walmart Super Center and a nearby Lowes.

It seems everyone is fed up and more and more are just not masking up anymore. Some folks are seemingly doing this in stages since I see several people wearing them below the nose and some even wearing them under their chin. I even saw one guy who had it dangling from his ear.

Yesterday I wan in a Home Depot in NJ. Forgot my mask in the car and was to lazy to go back for it. As a test I walked the entire store and made my purchases. Nobody looked twice at me or said a word. Lesson here is people need to start ignoring mask mandates.

“George Soros and his cartel are dying for a civil war.”

These things must be done - delicately. This has been a stealth combat up to now, and much of past strategy has paid off well, much like the frog in the slowly warming pot of water. The frog keeps thinking that no, not TOO warm yet, and thus misses the opportunity to simply leap out before the scalding sets in.

By then, of course, the frog is already just about cooked.

Tom Wolf, in spite of being a commie Democrat, is much more merciful than Hogan. His fine is in the range of $300 bucks.

But as it is, my auto repair shop has people unmasked all the time, so I can live freely in that facility, no problemo. Same with outdoors; wearing you mask for a stroll down or while driving alone in your automobile is simply overkill.

With us approaching herd immunity, I don’t think I’ll be wearing it in outdoor crowds anymore, although, for all I know, that’s a mandate as well. It’s just not worth it anymore.

I had been looking forward to a group bicycle tour this summer that was cancelled last year. We usually have around 1,000 participants.

Since we sign a release before the ride indemnifying them for anything that happens on the ride, I asked for clarification on what, if any rules will be in place about masks.

Oh yes, they were proud to inform me that masks will be required even in the open air, around any of the food trucks or common areas, but you WILL be allowed to go mask-less at your tent... if you’re crazy enough to try it.

Also, all rest stops will require masks unless eating or drinking. So, keep that sweat-soaked mask in your back pocket for when you stop to catch your breath.

I said, “Good luck guys!”

It’s not that I’m anti-mask, if someone chooses to wear one, I will respect that. But I refuse to willingly participate in an activity where, if I’m not as freaked out as you are, you can by the rules shame and disparage me for not joining in the mask theater.

I think I’ll try that. Nothing wrong with asking, even though the fine is $5,000 in my state. Because if the business doesn’t give a sh*t about you, even if the fine is $5,000, you know government’s deathgrip is over!

The first week in March, we celebrate not dying from our second vaccination shot and spent a couple of days and nights. The couple of vaccinated friends, we met and us were without masks unless we were in a line n food.

The second day we were in line about 50 yards from the bay and there was a 15 mph wind. Everyone had their masks on.

A big guy took off his mask and said that he was a vaccinated doctor and was not going to wear his mask in the wind by the bay and ocean. He and his wife took off their masks. So did a lot of us.

When the unmasked doc placed his order at the window, he put his mask back on. He took it off as he waited like the rest of us in the waiting line. When his number was called, he put his mask back on. After picking up his order, his mask went back on as he and his unmasked family went to their vehicle.

We did the same and so do most of the people there.

Fortunately there are still places that do not mandate masks.

Probably 50% of our community does not put on a mask. A local farm store has a sign that simply says masks required, yet not even the employees wear them.

Our local Walmart has a sign that says masks required by state and local law. That is an outright lie. Many walk in there without a mask and the mask Nazi says nothing.

At Menards the mask Nazi’s make certain customers are wearing masks. Once past these control freaks, the mask comes off.

From the article: “the permanent rule will be repealed only when Oregonians engage in mass civil disobedience, refusing to obey it.”

I’ve been to two Walmarts here in Huntsville Al. Huntsville is very upscale city for Alabama. One of the highest rates of post bachelor’s studies in the US, so one might expect considerable deference to the ‘experts’.
The first Walmart had replaced their ‘Masks Required” sign with a “Masks Recommended”. About 80% were still wearing masks.
The second Walmart still had their “Masks Required” sign up but still only 80% were wearing masks.
I wasn’t wearing a mask but received no comments.
At least here in Alabama, the masks are going away.

Is ANYBODY ever assured by anything a politician says? Is anybody really that stupid?
