No, you didn't read that incorrectly. We have some horrible news coming out of the Indianapolis Shooting that went down the other day. Apparently the former employee and gunman was a fan of Friendship is Magic, and more specifically Applejack, who was the focus of his final message on his pony focused Facebook page an hour before the shooting.

I know a homeless kid about the same age that looks almost exactly like this guy. A year ago he had exposed track marks on his arms. It was all new and cool. I saw him a few days ago. Seemed a little dazed, but not too bad. I asked if he was clean. He said “ No”. I guess we’ll see how that progresses.

I posted yesterday that if this guy had committed suicide last year, as he’d threatened, he’d have been part of the 1/3 of “gun violence” stats that are suicides. Tragic though that may be, he was prevented from killing himself for a year, and he took seven more victims of “gun violence” with him. I’m curious to see how this one plays out in the media. I’m a single dad. I watched “Friendship is Magic” with my daughter, and thought there were many positive, self-affirming elements for young girls to be found in the characters and scripts. And the occasional light touch of humor for “elders”. Like SpongeBob, but less, and less edgy.

I appreciated the absence of any critical theory, virtue signaling, and intersectional feminist BS. Not a lot of preachery and uber moral gotchas. I wouldn’t call it old-fashioned, but good clean fun for young girls. I recall a lot of it was simply about how differing personalities and perspectives can get along, solve problems, have fun, and be friends.
