A key witness in the trial of an ex-Minneapolis police officer in the death of George Floyd used videos, animations and other imagery to argue that Floyd died of a lack of oxygen that damaged his brain and stopped his heart.

An OD of fentanyl will do that.
Especially mixed with COVID.
Let's ask our doctor experts, but isn't it usually the other way around? Your heart stops and then you get brain damage and die from lack of oxygen. I suppose lack of oxygen might also stop the heart, but seems on its face to be backwards.
He had enough cr@p...illegal cr@p...in his system to kill a horse. He’s largely...if not entirely...responsible for his own death.
One here on FR insist that Congress Critter Ron Wright, who had stage 4 lung cancer, died of the China Virus.
Death is defined as when the heart has stopped and cannot start again. It is possible for people to be “brain-dead” or in a coma, etc. while their heart continues to beat and thus technically they are still alive, but when the heart has come to a complete halt, then life has ended.
Yes but I guess what I am asking is, can a lack of oxygen stop the heart? I suppose the easy answer is “yes it is possible” but how common is that? Usually (my impression only) it’s the other way around. Lack of oxygen is caused by bad pulmonary system, drowning, sitting in a running car in a closed garage, or a heart attack. Can lack of oxygen cause cardiac arrest? My impression is that the heart will continue to pump, it just won’t be pumping oxygen and then the other organs will fail. Then the heart will stop. But as always I am open to correction and education.
Floyd’s autopsy report listed the weight of his lungs which was above the range. When he said he couldn’t breathe, he could breathe but limited oxygen was transferring to his blood due to the fluids.
I’d bet his blood oxygen level was below that needed to support life.
COVID destroys the heme in red blood cells which meant the existing red blood cells would be limited in transporting oxygen. The pathologist should have measured the ferritin level in his blood.
I’m not sure if that changes with death.
Now add fentynal to the mix.
I always liked sock puppets.
Isn’t this sort of like the CIA TWA 800 cartoon?

The CIA did enter the investigation of a domestic airline crash, which was wholly unprecedented, and offered video of a flight path the CIA felt necessary to alter for some reason.
The heart is a muscle. All muscles require an oxygen supply to continue to function properly. Yes, the heart will continue to beat as the oxygen concentration in the blood gets lower and lower for whatever reason -— including strangulation. However, once the heart is starved for oxygen past a certain point, it gets a muscle cramp just like a leg or arm muscle. A heart cramp means no blood is flowing, unless the cramp releases and it starts beating again. This stop/start quickly becomes fibrillation, and then full stop. The other organs, including the brain, can remain alive for several to many minutes after cardiac arrest.
No. Brain death can be declared while the heart is still beating
a lack of oxygen can cause fatal arrhythmias in the heart and technically a heart attack is a lack or oxygen to parts of the heart due to decreased blood flow. But you are correct that most of the time it happens the other way around
covid does not destroy the heme in red blood cells
Liberals defending Planned Butcherhood will tell you that life does not begin when the heart starts beating. If they're correct, life cannot end when the heart stops. Their logic ties them in knots.
The weight of the officers impacted Floyd’s ability to breathe to get sufficient oxygen into his blood. This caused lack of oxygen to the respiratory centers of the upper brainstem which controls the breathing process. This became a circular process. With reduced oxygen to the brain stem, respiration slowed causing even less oxygen to the brain stem. This process quickly progressed until all breathing stopped. The oxygen starvation because of loss of lung function impacted a overworked heart racing from the effects of meth. When oxygen starvation completely shut down the breathing process, Floyd’s racing heart was done.
Well I’m glad that’s sorted. Sometimes I wonder why we bother with autopsies, courts or any of that crap.
The prosecution then brought in an expert to give a reading with tarot cards. The expert shuffled the deck and laid down a number of cards. The expert stated confidently that the cards indicated George Floyd died of asphyxiation. The expert also said the cards revealed that Officer Chauvin does not floss his teeth on a regular basis. The jury gasped...with one juror apparently fainting. Emergency services were called.
