I think a more accurate term other than ‘accepting Jesus’ is ‘stop rejecting Jesus’. We are saved by grace alone as a free gift. It’s already been given. By the grace of God it is ours now. No need to ‘accept’. But don’t ‘reject’ it which is the sin against the Holy Spirit. ‘Accepting’ has works-righteousness overtones, as if we have to do something to be saved. That’s why the more orthodox protestant denominations get hyper. Subtitle difference but significant. On the other hand I’m not going to fuss at those who happen to use ‘accept’ terminology.
Matthew 12 has it in context, directly:
28Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they utter. 29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.”
30Jesus made this statement because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
I don't see a syllable in there about "accepting Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior" or anything about "rejecting the gift of Jesus is blasphemy of the Spirit".
It is EXPLICITLY and VERBATIM, in response to the Jewish leaders saying Jesus had an unclean spirit.
What planet did you beam down from, and why do you continue with openly false teaching?
‘stop rejecting Jesus’
I like that. Thanks!
Just a friendly suggestion here. Take such discussions private please. On this special day of remembering Jesus eternal sacrifice let’s rejoice together. Experience tells me there will be no agreement in this argument.
