I’m severely hearing impaired, and I always had that problem with people coming up behind me and startling me.
Aw jeez. A skunk just let one rip outside the patio doors to my office and I’m choking on the fumes here. Time to clear out and head to bed in another part of the house not so close to the back deck. I swear my eyes are watering. Okay, now I need a mask - haha! And new patio doors. These ones seem to be porous.

Oh boy. I’ll take my foot out of my mouth now. I truly meant no offense, WH, or to make light of being hearing impaired. Come to think of it, that skunk got me as I was posting my thoughtless comment. I’ll take that as a well-deserved admonition. I’m sorry.

That reminds me that I have a question: Why do sign language interpreters of today make such exaggerated facial expressions? In the past, they didn’t. Doesn’t it make it harder to read their lips when they are grimacing? What style of interpreting is best to read?
