Forget the reason why, but Pre-Trump, Puty restored all the really great Russian Orthodox Catholic Churches, throughout Russia, from salvage to Glory. In an interview he was asked why he wears a crucifix under his dress shirt. He said it was for his mother, who prayed the Rosary for him everyday of his life.
I remember at some kind of a televised internet game, that young adult Russians chanted something unheard of, either a religious chant, or a pro-America chant.
I wish I could remember more about it, and whether it was during Obama, or Trump.

Bingo. The propaganda of the 1950s and 1960s -- which may have had its uses at that time -- needs to be forgotten and dispensed with.
Also, it should be remembered that we and the Russians were allies in both World Wars.
But what keeps popping into my mind the most nowadays is this: Per Occam's Razor, an aggressor nation will attack what it regards as an enemy or prey nation when that nation is weak. For 8 long, long years under O'Bathhouse, America was weaker than at any prior time in her history. Would have been easy pickings. Yet Russia DID NOT attack the nation. Seems to me that would have been the logical thing to do, had they ever had any such intent.
We may never be "besties", but they are not the enemy. In fact, we have the SAME enemy.

Sorry. I ain’t buyin’ it lock stock and barrel. It’s closer to the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Trust but verify also comes to mind. You think Putin doesn’t want to reconstitute the USSR—the countries - not the system?
Even our allies ain’t exactly true allies. I don’t trust Putin or them.
