Seems to me that would have been the logical thing to do, had they ever had any such intent.

Yeap. Remember the highest election turn out in the history of the US was Obama's election with 7% over average MAJOR achievement talked about for years. Next was Clinton/Ross Perot with 5% over average. 2020 election was 50% over average.
