I found myself in my first confrontation with a “vaccine enthusiast” yesterday... telling me about how she had gotten the shot oh, have *I* gotten it yet? I wish I could have answered with the line I came up with the other day, “np, I’m waiting to see what it does to YOU first”, but she’s a dear old friend and I honestly didn’t want to get into it so I said no I’ve just been waiting till the crowd dies down. But that’s not going to work for much longer, maybe I should just lie and say I did.
This dang vaccine is the new “disco” - the “in” crowd wants it. Everyone is getting it, but us old-time rock-n-rollers know that it is just a passing fad.
Problem is, unlike disco, this might actually cause some really nasty side effects, well beyond drunk people thinking that they can dance.

I tell them I’m waiting for a real vaccine. Most relatives live out of town and we talk on Facebook and when they push for more explanation I tell them than FB will ban me for telling the truth about the fake vaccines.
The last one that was so happy about getting her second shot got a reply of “good luck” from me and “if you survive four days you should be OK”. That usually shuts them up. Most know how I feel by now.
Double meanings exist.
I just tell people I don't want to Beta-Test some giant pharmaceutical company's experimental medical product which has possible life-changing implications so I'll wait until the final test results are in and then make an informed decision.
As of today, all of my immediate family have gotten vaccinated. They are all trying to get me to be vaccinated as well, but my response is that it’s a personal decision. Everyone needs to weigh the risks vs. the potential benefits, and that calculus is different for everyone. My 84 year old mother got it and I’m glad she did. As for me, I feel the risks outweigh the benefits. I’m 58 years old and in good health.
The vaccine is not a death sentence and is probably safe for most people. I think a lot of people are missing the point about the vaccine. The COVID vaccines may not be dangerous for most people, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a nefarious agenda behind them. I view this pandemic as a dry run to try to normalize the idea of forced vaccinations. There have been some deaths due to the vaccine, but on a percentage basis they have been small. This is the dry run designed to “disprove” the warnings of anti-vaxers. “What are you talking about? Everyone I know has had the vaccine and their all fine.” That’s the purpose of the current mass vaccination push. It’s to train people to accept it as normal so in the future people will accept forced vaccination without giving it a second thought. It’s not this round of vaccinations I’m particularly worried about. It’s the next round - 5 or 10 years down the road - in which people are ordered to take a more dangerous vaccine and have been trained to accept it as normal and safe.
