It was fun back in the day. Usually 3 - 6 people on board so we could guide the boat into the slip if needed. It was off the channel, we would pull in past our slip, then back in.
I did it myself a couple of times, and there was definitely a “feel” to it, knowing just how much the river would push the boat as you backed into the slip. More current meant more drift downstream, as you’d probably have guessed.
It was all fun and games until the floor started rotting and I had to cut it all out and re-build it. Basically used marine plywood, all fiberglassed on all sides, and glassed heavily on top before laying some crappy indoor-outdoor carpet.
I learned one major life lesson - never, ever volunteer to work with fiberglass for anybody. Ever!
Q: Into the Storm — A Review of HBO’s Documentary

I had no intention of watching HBO’s series on Q (Q: Into the Storm) but after reading a few observations from anons—some positive, some negative—I decided to watch the first two episodes. What follows is a review from someone who has followed Q from the beginning. I’ve read every post by Q more than once. I’ve read every linked document, watched every video Q has posted, and regularly visit the boards where the posts appear.
The film’s producer, Cullen Hoback, chose an interesting musical score for the series. The intro music and other songs that are featured give the film an eerie circus-of-the-bizarre feeling. I assume the choice of music was not random. Everything about the film from the lighting to the music portrays Q and his followers as members of a creepy movement with which no sane person would associate.
On the subject of sound, my list of complaints is long, but I’ll be brief. Hoback chose poor methods for recording his interviews. In many places, the voices of the interviewer or interviewee are inaudible. That problem is magnified by overlaying creepy music just when the film’s audio is lowest. The overall effect is confusion.
Documentaries don’t use actors or sets, but real people in their natural environments. Still, a good producer will use makeup, lighting, and camera angle to enhance the appearance of those who are interviewed. Hoback took a different approach. In most scenes, the subjects interviewed had no makeup, sat in dim lighting, and the camera angle made them appear frightening. This seems to have been intentional, adding to the surreal effect.
To his credit, Hoback enlisted people who’ve played key roles in the movement. I found his discussions with 8chan board owners FastJack and Paul Furber particularly helpful. I learned things about them I did not know.
Hoback spent an enormous amount of time digging into non-Q issues like GamerGate that cropped up on 4chan and 8chan prior to any appearance from Q. This allowed him to suggest that popular movements on 4chan and 8chan are propagated by cruel, amoral people. By extension, this includes Q. The intent here was to suggest that Q is just another sick online movement being run by malevolent actors. If you don’t frequent the boards, you wouldn’t know any different.
Jim Watkins, the owner of 8chan and 8kun, is prominently featured in the second episode, as is his son Ron (aka Codemonkey), who has served as the site administrator. Jim and Ron make the case that their website offers freedom of speech. To counter, Hoback rolls clips of nudity and other controversial images hoping to offend viewers who are accustomed to the filtered content of sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

I don’t know who this QAnon is, but here’s an idea,
Open them up and prove them wrong.

A well regulated militia (regulated as it meant in those times meant a well-working, like a quality clock), being necessary for the security of the FREE state, the right to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed.
I don’t see anything in there giving the government the right to restrict the right to keep AND BEAR arms. So the 9th circus apparently can’t read simple English.
Of course, we know what the goals of the left are - they are following in the footsteps of their greatest leaders of the past, Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Pol Pot - disarm, then massacre.
Given the direction of the final destination, I’d say that he, ummmm, f’ed up....
Good grief. I just told a friend of over 20 years that I hope she does not poison herself with carbon dioxide and that I cannot believe she would submit herself to a genetic modification passed off as immunization against a virus that has “caused” less than 2% of deaths in “confirmed” cases.
Thinking we are now no longer friends.
P.S. ~ I’m still here. And grateful for this thread!
((hugs))
Yeah, it's often hard to predict Chattanooga because of the Cumberland plateau/ridge to the west, which serves to block storms from the northwest, but it can also direct storms from the south right through town.
Chatt is right on the edge of the moderate risk area, north and east goes to a lower risk status. Not saying that weather can't happen, but it's more like south and west of Chatt than it is north and east tomorrow night.

Rachel Levine becomes first openly transgender federal official confirmed by the Senate
The Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Dr. Rachel Levine as assistant health secretary for the Biden administration. Two Republican members, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins crossed the aisle to support Levine. The vote was history-making, as Levine became the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed in the Senate.
Now it’s everyone’s problem. Enjoy!
A man asked me if I was in line at a store yesterday and he was making this loud sucking noise at he tried to get air through his mask, he looked at me with hostility since I wasn’t wearing a mask and was freely breathing oxygen. Had to resist telling him to stop smothering himself.
I hear tell that the tape measure is still stored next to the sextant and compass.
Nice to see you lyby! Sorry about your friend. I think we have lost a couple of friends because we refuse to get the shot and save them.

LOL! Qanon claims...?
here’s a what-if for you.
Suppose that some errant cargo (human, drugs, weapons, NUKES) was not on this ship but another.
Suppose the operator of this particular ship was a white hat and chose to block the canal in an effort to prevent another Wessel from reaching it destination, or to allow time for the navel forces to set up an interception operation for said Wessel. (reaching my inner Chekov here)
Either way, a blocked Suez Canal gets a lot of attention. :)
There are no coincidences - perhaps this was a message to Evergreen herself, that whatever plans she had were blocked.
That is very intereting.
